Make Better Choices

It’s very difficult to give up everything you love to eat all at the same time. It can be done-just most people won’t do it. So, if you are having difficulty transitioning to healthy foods, try making some of these better choices. For example, you know that soda is not good for you at all, but you can’t bring yourself to drink water all the time. So, try choosing instead sparkling water with lemon or lime or even a flavored Emergen-C packet. A Better Choice!

Here are other better choices:

Choose olive, coconut, walnut, or sesame oil instead of vegetable oil (corn, safflower, sunflower,soybean) or other less desirable oils (canola, cottonseed, peanut).
Choose yams or sweet potatoes instead of white potatoes.
Choose mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes.
Choose a fresh orange over orange juice.
Make your own salad dressing using exra-virgin olive oil and a specialty vinegar instead of the ready-made salad dressing.
Try plain Greek-style yogurt with berries, vanilla or cinnamon instead of the high-sugar fruit yogurts.
Next time you go shopping get sea salt(Real or Celtic) instead of the nutrient-depleted table salt.
Look for cage-free, organic eggs instead of Egg Beaters.
Get Spinach greens or organic lettuce instead of iceberg lettuce.
Choose xylitol or stevia instead of artificial sweeteners and sugar.
Choose goat cheese instead of blue cheese crumbles.
Eat almonds, walnuts and pecans instead of peanuts.
Choose grass-fed beef patties, turkey or chicken breast patties instead of 80% lean hamburger.
Mix fat-free pinto beans with mexican seasoning instead of refried beans.
Try brown or wild rices steamed in chicken broth instead of white rice.
Get grass-fed filet mignon instead of corn-fed rib-eye steak.
Experiment with almond, cashew, macadamia or walnut butter instead of peanut butter.
